The Prophet Jesus and the Antichrist in Islam

During our last halaqah, we talked about the Prophet Jesus, on him be peace, and the Antichrist in Islam. Insha’ Allah, two very beneficial resources that one should consult for more information are

• “Jesus Christ the Son of Mary and His Most Blessed Mother,” a translated transcript of a speech by al-Habib `Ali al-Jifri, and
• “Seeing with Both Eyes,” a transcript of a speech by Shaykh Abdal-Hakim Murad.

Exciting Edmonton Event!

Masha’ Allah, as many of you know, the Islamic Family and Social Services Association (IFSSA) has some very interesting events planned out, not least of which was the highly successful event, The Mosquers.

Another event, scheduled for October 2008, is Beyond Borders, an event “showcasing the creative talent of Muslims in Edmonton.” Submissions may include photography, artwork, poetry, and live performance. Given that Old Scona people tend to be geeky, this opportunity is perfect to flaunt those talents!

Shaykh Abdallah Adhami, a leading Muslim scholar in the West, recently published a calm, reflective essay on apostasy laws in Islam. The article touches on several issues that any Muslim would do well to reflect upon. Ma sha’ Allah, I think as Muslims we really need to raise the level of our discourse to what the shaykh so eloquently demonstrates.
